Back in the day, before there were flying cars, my mother threatened not to help pay for any of my schooling if I:

~Got my tongue pierced

Oh I really wanted to, but she’s right. I probably wouldn’t have front teeth if I had.

Or

~Got any tattoos

So on my Venice Beach adventure (three credits away from graduation) in my 20s, I got my first tattoo.

In fact, it is ultra special because it was the first time I had gotten anything in return for my artwork!

My friend who managed the Tattoo shop on the Venice Beach boardwalk wanted to find an artist to design an African Goddess back piece for his girlfriend. Could I do it? Oh heaven’s — yes I can! In return one of the artists would give me a tattoo, my first! And I wanted an OM on me since I came back from the ashram.

So I traded my art of an African Goddess for an OM symbol, “the sound of the Universe.” It is far more than these few words can express.

The word Om is defined by Hindu scripture as being the primordial sound of creation. It is the original vibration of the universe. From this first vibration, all other vibrations are able to manifest. Source~“What is Om?
